The City Keeps Us Alive

My heart is still heavy and it weighs me down every morning I wake up. It’s so hard to even think about waking up. The sky is so close to me and I see this beautiful city as I turn to my right side of the bed. I hear the construction sites drilling, making awful sounds, and unfortunately having the fire hall 5 mins away I can hear the ambulance every so often, but it’s already so tuned out. Living in a busy city doesn’t bother me at all anymore, it keeps us busy.

It keeps us working, networking, socializing and it keeps us from operating as human beings to work the 9 to 5 job. The career where we try to climb as high as you can go and those who take on the risk of creating a small business, the city keeps us alive.

Here are some things I love to do on my own time living in a busy city (without COVID)

Finding the Right Coffee Shop

As every millennial out there whether you’re working on your blog, studying for an exam, or working online there’s always a place to find in the morning to drink your cup of coffee or tea (whichever one you prefer). Maybe you found that perfect spot and that perfect set up that no one knows about and it becomes your go-to with the same coffee you ordered a couple hours ago and you keep going until it’s time for you to find a new attraction.

Weekend Nights

Friday was the start of my weekend, I knew that I always needed to do something. To see my friends, my lover, and go out to have a good time. Bar hopping from one place to another was also interesting with my girls. We would walk everywhere that was open and try new beers and some places even had mini arcade games. My Fridays were also spent drinking and watching Netflix with my boyfriend which was more relaxing after a long week. Either way, I always found something to do to just let my mind be free.

Concerts & Events

There was always something going on in the downtown area. Where the concerts would start, the parties were lively and the night was filled with whatever you wanted to do. I wasn’t much of a concert person, but I did like going to sessions, creative classes, or volunteering even on my random weekdays alone or not. My purpose was to learn and keep learning different things even if it wasn’t something I was going to get into, but it was free and inspiring information to know about.

Taking a Stroll

The city I’m in right now isn’t a great idea for a stroll, but the next cities around me are great. There’s always something that I didn’t know existed and I end up finding small boutiques, cute coffee shops, and morning brunches. I love walking around and exploring. It fulfills my small travels when I can’t compensate for going around the world.

The city will always be my home, it’s close to my friends and family. When I have many days that bring me down, I know I have interesting people to keep me alive.
